| | excited | ] | Well, I'm waiting for Gore to call me up and tell me that he's on his way. I like the theme for FC (Further Confusion)this year: Furries of the Nile. So for those of you who have no idea what FC is, it's a furry convention where people (read: dorks) like me gather to waste our money and gawk at other people's fursuits and just have a good time. I went to Califur last year and it was my first furry convention and that's exactly what I did there.
So here's to a good con! |

| A Strange Day |

| [ | mood |
| | confused | ] | Today I met someone I've been talking to online, a nice guy by the name of Curtis. I like him as a friend but really no more. Afterall, I'm still going out with Glen despite a rather rough patch we have been going through. I still wanna be with Glen, because there's some comfort in being with someone as long as I have been with Glen.
I feel guilty though now. This guy holds me on some kind of pedastal that I really don't belong on. He thinks I'm perfect, but I'm far from that. He deserve me, I can tell you that. I won't bring him happiness, only pain, if he thinks that I'm that perfect someone just for him. What makes things worse is that I am the only girl he has ever had any real contact with. I fear he'll get his hopes up about the whole thing. I'm not quite sure what to do, but I sure as hell don't deserve to be worshipped by someone as nice as Curtis, someone so innocent. He needs someone innocent like himself, someone who hasn't been through some of the shit I've been through or made some of the same stupid mistakes I have. Someone who won't lead him on to false hopes, only to have them rudely deflated when reality hits. I wish I could provide that for him, but sadly I cannot.
Don't worship me. Or anyone. But please, don't worship me. I'm not worthy of it. |

| | contemplative | ] | So yeah I joined five clubs at school. I don't know if this is going to be fun or if I'm going to be driven to insanity by the time spring semester rolls around.
Here's how it figures out-
Tuesday- Kyo Club A Buddhist club emphasizing how Buddhist thought might be used for humanistic applications. I'm not Buddhist but this sounded interesting to me.
Wednesday-
Gay Straight Alliance This is something I feel strongly about, since I've always been against social injustices. Fighting homophobia is something I'm interested in and would like to become more involved with.
Band in Demand The so-called "rock club" at my school. I joined because the teacher sponsoring it, Mr. Ferreria, is the most awesome teacher ever. I'll have to switch between these two clubs- ie go to one on one wednesday and one of the other.
Thursday- Environmental Club Obviously this is something very important to me.
Friday- Animal Observation Club Since I'm a furry, how could I NOT join this club? Its all about animals, careers with animals, and studying animals in general! |

| A Strange Political Poem I Thought Up... |
[Oct. 1st, 2004|06:38 am] |
OF VULTURES
It is exceedingly odd Of Vultures Huddled crook-necked over the Kill- Each creature equally unwholesome to look upon, Though each squabbling, in a horrid blood-glutted shrill- "This bit of offal is mine--mine--mine!" Their war cry Not unlike that heard Over some begotten desert- Where land mines placed by semi-sentient,semi-articulate limbs Eons earlier in lands far and away They explode in the twilight, the purulent flume of Life poured out on the sands...the light dims... All is swallowed in the maw of darkness, The Kill lay rendered, eviscerated and turning cold.
"Red and blue, Red and blue!" the unholy beggars cry- Red for the blood shed unwillingly, Blue for the lifeless pallor of rent and mangled flesh. Meanwhile, in a crowded room of ears mostly devoid of eyes, The Vultures take their stand, pontificating as planned, "Skull and Bones, Skull and Bones- In the End It's All the Same!" |

Something about frogs in the swamp multiplying and lizards that tip over handy bottles of poison in greenhouses. Basically, every creature in the swamp has become deranged because they want to get back at humanity. Cheesy acting and really lousy "effects" ensue. Lots of fake blood! This movie is so bad it's hilarious.
My new favorite film, ferserious.
Now I'm just waiting for either Glen or Julian to call me back so we can hang out. I'm so fucking bored right now. Meh. |

MANDATORY DRAFT FOR BOYS AND GIRLS, AGES 18-26, STARTING JUNE 15, 2005..
Mandatory draft for boys and girls (ages 18-26) starting June 15, 2005, is something that everyone should know about. This literally effects everyone since we all have or know children that will have to go if this bill passes.
There is pending legislation in the house and senate (companion bills: S89 and HR 163) which will time the program's initiation so the draft can begin as early as spring, 2005, just after the 2004 presidential election. The administration is quietly trying to get these bills passed now, while the public's attention is on the elections, so our action on this is needed immediately. Details and links follow.
This plan, among other things, eliminates higher education as a shelter and includes women in the draft. Also, crossing into Canada has already been made very difficult.
Actions: Please send this on to all the parents and teachers you know, and all the aunts and uncles, grandparents, godparents. . . And let your children know - - it's their future, and they can be a powerful voice for change!
This legislation is called HR 163 and can be found in detail at this website: *http://thomas.loc.gov/ Just enter in "HR 163" and click search and will bring up the bill for you to read. It is less than two pages long. *
If this bill passes, it will include all men and ALL WOMEN from ages 18 - 26 in a draft for military action. In addition, college will no longer be an option for avoiding the draft and they will be signing an agreement with the Canadian government which will no longer permit anyone attempting to dodge the draft to stay within it's borders. This bill also includes the extension of military service for all those that are currently active. If you go to the select service web site and read their 2004 FYI Goals you will see that the reasoning for this is to increase the size of the military in case of terrorism. This is a critical piece of legislation, this will effect our undergraduates, our children and our grandchildren.
Please take the time to write your congressman and let them know how you feel about this legislation. www.house.gov www.senate.gov
Please also write to your representatives and ask them why they aren't telling their constituents about these bills and write to newspapers and other media outlets to ask them why they're not covering this important story.
The draft $28 million has been added to the 2004 selective service system budget to prepare for a military draft that could start as early as June 15, 2005. Selective service must report to Bush on March 31, 2005 that the system, which has lain dormant for decades, is ready for activation.
Please see www.sss.gov/perfplan_fy2004.html to view the Selective Service System annual performance plan, fiscal year 2004.
The pentagon has quietly begun a public campaign to fill all 10,350 draft board positions and 11,070 appeals board slots nationwide. Though this is an unpopular election year topic, military experts and influential members of congress are suggesting that if Rumsfeld's prediction of a "long, hard slog" in Iraq and Afghanistan (and permanent state of war on terrorism) proves accurate, the U.S. may have no choice but to draft.
http://www.hslda.org/legislation/na...s89/default.asp entitled the Universal National service Act of 2003, "to provide for the common defense by requiring that all young persons (age 18-26) in the United States, including women, perform a period of military service or a period of civilian service in furtherance of the national defense and homeland security, and for other purposes." These active bills currently sit in the committee on armed services. Dodging the draft will be more difficult than those from the Vietnam era. College and Canada will not be options. In December, 2001, Canada and the U.S. signed a "smart border declaration," which could be used to keep would-be draft dodgers in. Signed by Canada's minister of foreign affairs, John Manley, and U.S. Homeland Security director, Tom Ridge, the declaration involves a 30 point plan which implements, among other things, a "pre-clearance agreement" of people entering and departing each country. Reforms aimed at making the draft more equitable along gender and class lines also eliminates higher education as a shelter. Underclassmen would only be able to postpone service until the end of their current semester. Seniors would have until the end of the academic year.
*What to do: Tell your friends, Contact your legislators and ask them to oppose these bills
*Just type "congress" into the aol search engine and input your zip code. A list of your reps will pop up with a way to email them directly. We can't just sit and pretend that by ignoring it, it will go away. We must voice our concerns and create the world we want to live in for our children and grandchildren. ________________________________________________________________________________________
I've been saying this for awhile but, if this happens, who out there wants to knock me up so I can't go to war? :-P Can't send pregnant ladies, right? *hopes*
But seriously, there is no fucking way this is going to go anywhere. Americans who support the war now do so because it's not "their" war- they don't HAVE to be over there getting shot at by Al-Sadr's lunatics. Make it THEIR war and you know 99% of Americans are going to bitch about it and finally give a shit. I predict riots.
Prepare for the fucking pitchforks, dubya. |

I'm excited about this but kinda nervous too, since it is a pretty big milestone...you know, being considered an adult in most regards by the state and all. Of course I know not too much is going to change in my life just because of me being one year older, but it's the meaning attached to that year. This also means I can vote this coming November. I've already registered to vote, as a Green. I'm not sure who to vote for though. I don't like Bush and I don't like Kerry- but I want to vote for someone. Bush's foregin policy frightens me and I don't think we can rely on Kerry to keep us safe when most other countries hate us thanks to Bush. It's a bit of a Catch-22 to be sure, but I think that by at least voting for Kerry perhaps we'll start making a turn in the right direction but I kind of doubt this too.
We're screwed. |

So I'm going to restart my attempts to go jobhunting, which were interrupted by my grandmother's illness. Once I do have a job however, I'm going to be a bit stingy about my money. I've been wanting to get a tattoo for some time now, and I need to start saving up if I want it! I want to get my character Anya tattooed, since she represents my spiritual side and my therianthropy in general. And don't go giving me the "would you still want it in 50 years" bullshit either. I know what I'm doing and your truisms aren't going to change my mind. Sorry.
Oh and on a second note, you should all check out my friend's new community: AFI LOVES CRACK. Because not all AFI fans are sXe. Link here: http://www.livejournal.com/userinfo.bml?user=afi_loves_crack |

Good think I'm getting Lasik surgery later this year.
Today I have another driving lesson with Valley Bob's Driving School. I really suck at driving- even with my glasses. Hopefully no pedestrians will be harmed and I will return home safely. However, if you do not hear from me, I am giving Glen my 2-volume set of Aqua Teen Hunger Force DVDs and Rebekah my frog collection. |
